The Samudra Retreat Samui Hotel
The Samudra Retreat Samui Hotel is in a good location just 7 miles from the Samui airport and minutes from Choeng Mon beach. In addition it is a short 10 minute ride from the hotel to Chaweng. Be warned however that while there is a hotel shuttle available they will charge 100 baht per person at night.
You’ll find the 20 villas of The Samudra Retreat to be very well designed with lots of beautiful Thai wood. Be warned that the hotel sits on a hillside. There are golf carts available to take you up the hill, but it can be difficult for those who are less mobile. The hillside location does give a great view of Choeng Mon beach and the nearby rock outcroppings.
You’ll find 3 great pools, including a four tiered one near the deluxe rooms that is spectacular. Also onsite is the Thalasso Spa and the Ayurvedic Thai massage to take away all your stresses. At night enjoy authentic Thai dinners at the Royal Siam Restaurant. Great food and views, but a bit expensive.
Service is average with some of the staff helpful and others with attitudes. Overall this is a decent place for families and good for those who want a quieter hotel away from the main bustle of Chaweng. A bit expensive for what you get, but not bad at all for Samui in general.
